HEADSHOTS
What To Expect At Your Headshot Session
Hello! I’m Julia. Nice to meet you. If this if your first or second time having professional headshots taken so you may feel a little nervous. Trust me when I say that you are not alone in feeling this way. Believe it or not, I have been where you are right now. I studied Musical Theater in college, went to NYC for a bunch of years and had my headshots taken many times. I have experienced the “night before” stress so I do my best to create an environment where you feel comfortable and confident being yourself.
Let me tell you a bit about my process so you can decide if we are a good fit together.
Much like how I write, your session will be laid back and conversational. I am a relaxed photographer, open to whatever you need in order feel at ease. Like music? Bring it. Want to be silent? It will be hard for me, but I can accommodate. Feel better with a friend or parent along? Great! I will likely put them to work.
My headshot sessions are shot outside in natural light, not in a studio setting. I use off camera lighting when it can be an asset, but primarily it is just the camera and the sun. Note: You will be sitting a lot and not always very conservatively. If you are wearing a skirt please have shorts to pop on underneath.
Natural light is code for “weather contingent” so you’re likely asking- “What if it rains? ” I hear you, it stinks when it rains - but not to worry. I have been doing this a long time and it has always worked out. We simply reschedule for another date.
You do not need to “know what to do.” I will take care of everything and direct you to lean, tilt, stand, hold, turn, or freeze in certain positions. All of the direction is simply the process of finding the right position for you to look your best. If you have any limitations in terms of sitting or standing please speak up and I will accommodate.
